If the portrait is of more than one person, try to co-ordinate the outfits.  Colors and designs that complement and don't compete are the best.

Everyone should have some sort of sleeve.  Short sleeves will do, but longer sleeves are better.  You can always push or roll up the sleeves for comfort.

Colors should not be to wild, unless that is your "signature" look.  If Aloha shirts are your thing, then by all means, go for it!
